In this historic Revolution Square, scenery of many patriotic events, and in all the country, we Cubans, celebrate today the International Day of Workers, in a Cuba that lives and works, since the creative resistance, moving forward towards the construction of a sovereign, independent, socialist, democratic, wealthy and sustainable nation, expressed Ulises Guillarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Union of Workers of Cuba, during the beginning of the parade in celebration of May 1st.

The also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party pointed out the complexed and challenging international context the party of the workers was celebrated; in a moment when the United States´ blockade to the island has been hardened, representing a major obstacle for the development of our programs in course, in the midst of a pandemic which still has a negative impact on the economic and social field, while lives are in stake and are being lost.

All these factors influence in the lack of goods, the minority commerce and the rise of speculative prices that affect directly the worker´s incomes; situation that imperialism uses as leverage through a double intentioned speech and media campaigns on social networks, under the aim of fracturing the unity of our people.

Guillarte de Nacimiento highlighted the work done by the workers in research centers and BioCubaFarma, to achieve the five vaccine candidates developed in the country, which saved millions of people lives in Cuba. He claimed for an applause that would echoed throughout the distance covered by people who attended to the parade.
