Capital City Residents Populate José Martí Revolution Square this May Day

With the presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the celebrations for International Workers' Day began this May 1, 2022 at the José Martí Revolution Square.

As a recognition and gesture of gratitude for the effort made in these last two years of arduous battle for the life and safety of the people, a block of 50 thousand workers of Public Health and Science led the march of a compact crowd aware that the triumph lies in unity.

Thanks to the unconditional dedication of the workers of these sectors, Cuba can now count on three vaccines and other vaccine candidates of national production that have allowed to bring vaccination to all age groups and to control the incidence in Cuba of the world pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.

Under the slogan Cuba Lives and Works, Cubans of all ages representing different spheres of the economy flooded Havana streets to arrive at the historic Revolution Square to ratify a yes for Cuba and Socialism, and to celebrate the triumphs of Cuban science in the confrontation with Covid-19.

From very early hours again this Sunday, flags returned to the square of epic battles and a crowd was seen decked out in patriotic colors.
