XXVIII National Seminar of Schools Associated with UNESCO is being held.

The 28th National Seminar of UNESCO Associated Schools will be held in virtual mode until Friday, April 28, from the Directorate of Educational Technology, attached to the Ministry of Education of Cuba (Mined).

Teachers from the Cuban network of UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet) can participate in the event that will take place from 9:00 a.m. in the modality of video in real time via Internet, free of charge, through the official website of the Ministry of Education (Mined).

The ASPnet in Cuba is made up of 76 educational centers of all educational levels.

Thursday's program will begin with the presentation of good practices in the framework of UNESCO projects carried out by schools.

For this topic, the directors of the 20 associated schools included in this program will be contacted.

On Wednesday, Dr. C Miguel Jorge Llivina Lavigne, Education Program Officer of UNESCO's Regional Office for Culture for Latin America and the Caribbean in Havana, was in charge of the opening remarks and the presentation of the objectives and program of the meeting.

Dulce Buergo Rodríguez, ambassador and director of the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO, gave the inaugural lecture entitled "Cuba at UNESCO, 75 years of fruitful exchange for peace, sustainable development and multilateralism".

Delia Vera Medina. National Coordinator ASPnet gave an account of the balance of the work carried out from May 2019 to April 2022.

"Education for climate change and education for disaster prevention: Resilience, multi-risks, early warning and environmental protection in Cuba" (2015-2026) was the theme of the second conference, given by Dr. C. Orestes Valdés Valdés, National Methodologist of the Directorate of Science and Technique of the Ministry of Education and Llivina Lavigne.

Meanwhile, Miriam Egea Álvarez, director of the Department of Marxism and History of the Ministry of Education, addressed the topic of Education for Civic Life as a necessity for these times.

On Friday, the exchange and presentation of good practices will continue, the ASPnet National Coordinator will offer guidelines and details of work for the next period and will present the work World Citizenship for Sustainable Development.

The event will close with a gala presentation of a video starring students from the UNESCO Associated Schools Conservatory "Guillermo Tomás" in Havana.
