Balthasar Neumann Akademie returns to Havana

Cultural and friendship bonds between Cuba and Germany get solid with the re-start of an educational project focussed on the teaching of orchestra and chamber music for nouvelle native creators.

Prensa Latina informed that the Cuban Youth Orchestra Initiative, born few years ago of the Alliance between the Mozart Lyceum of Havana and the Balthasar Neumann Akademie, returns this Wednesday to the country after a 2-years break ,due to Covid-19 outbreak.

The meeting will be developed untill next April 23rd and constitutes a precious opportunity of improvement for the members of the Orquesta Sinfónica of the Instituto Superior de Arte, attached to the Lyceum and the Orchestra of the Lyceum of Havana.

The program includes individual violin, viola, clarinet and percussion lessons and chamber music lessons for cord, wind and assembly of percussion  instruments , developed by teachers of the german academy.

The concert-gala schedulled for the closure of this important event will boost the performances of students of the workshop who will play a varied repertoire at the Oratorio San Felipe Neri.

For the Organizing Committee of the event, the return of teachers and collaborators of the Balthasar Akadamie in Havana endorses the collaboration existing between the German institution and the Office of the Historian of the City, re-states the German-Cuban relationship, and supports and boosts the academic and professional training of musicians.

Headed by the prestigious director Thomas Hengelbrock, the Balthasar Neumann Akademie, as its two branches: the Balthasar Neumann Choir and Emsemble´s main goal is to cultívate and preserve the European cultural legacy.
