Cuba proposes new trials in anti-Covid vaccination estrategias.

Expected to become phase I/II, the trial is developed by the Center of Genetic Engineering and  Biotechnology (CIGB) in the capital city.

The other trial proposed to the Regulator Authority of the Caribbean nation(CEDMED) is Soberana Futuro.

Also planned to become phaseI/II and promoted by the Finlay Institute of Vaccines and to be developed in Havana and Cienfuegos.

An intervention on a group from 1-1 and 11 months and 29 days of age was also conceiled.

To carry out these analysis , Morales pointed out, the trials are based on prior safety and inmunogenicity studies performed in pediatric ages, which will gradually take place and will be developed in two stages.

During the first period, the vaccine will be introduced through a drug-surveillance studies in girls and boys between a year and a year, 11 month and 29 days of life. The trial will be developed in the city of Camaguey, with the Abdala vaccine and in Cienfuegos, with both Soberanas.

In a second stage , it is expected to get the clearance for the emergency use in this group of individuals and once approved, the vaccination will be regional , detailed the especialist.

Morales said, that it is forwarded to boost the vaccines approved with a second dose in  high risk groups, six month after the administration of the first booster dose.

60 year old people and the ones with problems of the inmune system(inmunodepression, cáncer, liver chronic diseases and so on) will be included in this process.

Another approach of the trials is to address the new needs for bosster doses, their application periodand the conditions to develop the process. 

 

A study on the duration of the inmune response in workers of the Groupf of Farmaceutical and Biotechnological Industries (Biocubafarma) and a second one in workers of the Health Sector, with prime-vaccination and a booster dose from the Tropical Diseases Center Pedro Kourí, was proposed.
