1930- José Antonio Foncueva dies in Havana

He was born in the Cuban capital on March 24th, 1910.

He was a Cuban witter that collaborated with several publications despite having a short existence. At his 16s, he already collaborated with Avances Magazine. In 1927 founded and directed the left-wing magazine El Estudiante, that was interrupted by Gerardo Machado dictatorship. He also contributed to Vanguardia Atuei Magazine that year.

His professional work was headed to storytelling, poetry, essay and literary critic.

 

1990- Dies in Havana Carlos Borbolla

He was born in Manzanillo city, on January 1st, 1902. He was the ninth and the smallest child of Francisco Borbolla, Spanish merchant settled in the city and Carolina Téllez, Cuban citizen.

He was a remarkable composer, author of more than 300 plays with pure Cuban essence. Historian and researcher of the Cuban musical roots. His musical catalogue embraces more than 500 written plays, clasic pieces, overtures, wals, mostly written for pieno.
