Lung ventilators donated to Havana hospitals

The Chinese Corporation Hainergy New Energy Corp. Ltd, belonging to the Haier Group, delivered a donation of 10 non-invasive pulmonary ventilators that will benefit four Havana hospitals and contribute to the fight against COVID-19.

The Cuban News Agency (ACN) reports that the equipment will be distributed to Miguel Enriquez, Joaquin Albarran, Enrique Cabrera and Calixto Garcia hospitals in Havana.

Dr. Miguel García Rodríguez, director of the latter medical institution, explained that the equipment will be used to help patients with respiratory insufficiency in the first stage, both before and after ventilation.

As friends of Cuba, we consider that it is our duty to help the Cuban people with this equipment, especially those who have respiratory pathologies or suffer from COVID-19, said Sun Yongle, general manager of Hainergy, during the delivery ceremony held at the General Calixto Garcia University Hospital.

He commented that these institutions will be able to use all the potentialities of the pulmonary ventilators and these will offer a greater contribution to the health of the Cuban population.

During the months of the COVID-19 confrontation, the People's Republic of China also supplied protection material to all the personnel of the Cuban Embassy in the Asian giant and sent the nation masks and oxygen concentrators, when there were difficulties with the availability of that gas, Sun Yongle pointed out.

For her part, Déborah Rivas Saavedra, vice minister of Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex), highlighted the ties that since 2004 have united the largest of the Antilles with the Haier Group, strengthened in the midst of the context that the Caribbean country is going through due to the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government on Cuba and the international crisis caused by the pandemic.

The donation we received is one more expression of our vocation of solidarity and a sign of support and brotherhood that we highly value because it ratifies Haier's will to continue cooperating with Cuba," said lRivas Saavedra.

The Haier Group has in the Antillean nation one of its strategic partners and promotes development in branches such as the national electronics industry with the assembly of televisions and, recently, with the deployment of Chinese digital terrestrial television in the country, concludes the ACN.
