"It started in a small way and it is a snowball that has been growing and reached an extraordinary magnitude", this is how Luis Carlos Góngora Domínguez, general director of International Relations and Foreign Trade of the Government of Havana, describes the first Local Development Fair of Havana.

The also vice president of the Fair's Organizing Committee pointed out that during 2020 and 2021 in the capital worked on all municipal local development strategies and the approval of Local Development Projects that have generated an important change in the look at the development of the territories, no longer waiting for investments from the country, but in a different look, from within, looking for endogenous forces, own potentialities to generate local development. "We want to see that change at Expocuba, we want it to be expressed there, so that people can see what is happening in that thriving scenario where there is an extraordinary dynamism," he said.

Among the objectives of the fair he included giving the possibility of visualizing potentialities to generate linkages with the socialist state enterprise and other actors of the economy, as well as to prepare them better from theoretical and scientific events and bring the university and the academy a little closer to local development.

According to Góngora, the province's strategy will introduce new concepts such as the special local development zones, places where we want there to be a difference in terms of prerogatives, possibilities and stimulus for local investment. It will have a national vision, but it will also have a very Havana vision, of how the province and its municipalities believe the capital can and should be transformed.
