Havana with 13 of the 679 new Covid-19 positives in Cuba

The official report of the Ministry of Public Health informs that at the end of yesterday, March 21, 679 new positive cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, for a total of one million 82 thousand 880.

A total of 8,500 cases remain hospitalized; 5,137 are suspected and 29 are under surveillance.

To date, 8,508 deaths have been reported (one per day) and 755 medical discharges were given (per day), accumulating 1,70,679 (98.9%) recovered patients. A total of 3,334 active cases were confirmed, of which 3,314 with stable clinical evolution.

In Havana, 13 cases were identified, all autochthonous. Cases were identified in 7 of the 15 Havana municipalities, with the following distribution:

- Arroyo Naranjo - 2

- Boyeros - 2

- Diez de Octubre - 3

- East Havana - 1

- La Lisa - 1

- Playa - 3

- Plaza de la Revolución - 1

For the COVID-19, 8,740 samples were studied, resulting in 556 positive samples. The country accumulates 13 million 230 thousand 498 samples taken and 1 million 76 thousand 785 positive cases.

Of the confirmed cases, 543 were contacts of confirmed cases, 4 with a source of infection abroad, and 9 with an unspecified source of infection.

There were 391 females and 1,288 males, 20 patients were in intensive care, 4 of them critical and 16 serious.

Of the 679 positive cases, 2.2% (15) were asymptomatic, making a total of 145,728, representing 13.5% of those confirmed to date.

The 679 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age, 176; from 20 to 39, 177; from 40 to 59 years of age, 176; and from 60 and over, 150 cases.

As of March 21, Cuba reports a lethality rate of 0.79% of Covid-19 per million inhabitants, lower than the 1.29% in the world and 1.78% in the Americas.
