Havana anniversaries. March 16th.

2005.   The Victor Hugo House is inaugurated in Old Havana.

The building is part of the network of institutions of the Office of the Historian of the City.   It is located in an old building at 311 O'Reilly Street between Habana and Aguiar Streets, in the historic urban center of the Cuban capital.   The building that has come down to our days is a building of high and low of the 19th century, which by its external appearance responds to the taste for the neoclassical style in vogue in Europe from the second half of the 18th century, and extended to Cuba and the rest of America in the 19th century.  After a great rehabilitation that had as premise the conservation of the original values of the building, this house consecrated to the distinguished French writer was opened.

Victor Hugo was the author, among other works, of Les Miserables and Notre Dame de Paris.
