The 5th Colloquium on European Presences in Cuba is convened

Under the theme "Women in the shared history between Cuba and Europe", the V Colloquium European Presences in Cuba will be held from October 26 to 28, 2022.

The event, organized by the Center for the Interpretation of Cuba-Europe Cultural Relations: Palacio del Segundo Cabo, an institution attached to the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, in its fifth edition will promote the study of the history of women by recognizing their experiences and their role in history, reports Habana Radio.

Taking into account the links between Cuba and the old continent, Cuban and foreign researchers are invited to submit proposals that reflect women in colonial society: migrations, family and identity; women creators, intellectuals, scientists and professionals, and the participation of women in the Cuban independence struggle.

Among other thematic axes are: political violence against women; women's participation in the construction of the Nation and citizenship; women's rights; women in economic history; symbolism, imaginary and the representation of women.

The V Colloquium European Presences in Cuba is being held within the framework of the international cooperation project Promoting the socio-cultural inclusion of women in the Historic Center of Old Havana, through the management of cultural heritage and psychosocial care with a gender perspective, developed jointly with KCD ONGD and financed by the Basque Agency for Development Cooperation (AVCD).

All those interested in presenting their work or research in any of the following areas: History, Art History, Philology, Cultural Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Communication, Tangible and Intangible Heritage, Museology, Archival Science, among other related disciplines may participate in this conclave.

According to Habana Radio, the deadline for submitting proposals will be Monday, September 5, 2022, 5:00 pm. Any proposal received after this date will not be considered by the organizing committee.
