President Diaz-Canel ponders journalism committed to justice in Cuba.

The Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez highlighted today journalism committed to the truth, the Revolution and the people, in the framework of the celebrations for the Day of the Journalism in the island.

Through his Twitter account, the president highlighted the 130th anniversary of the foundation of the newspaper Patria, by the National Hero of our Homeland.

This is a day of celebration and reflection, this March 14th; due to the 130 years of the foundation of Patria and the challenges of the Cuban press in the current times in Cuba. We are honored to accompany our journalism and we express it when stating: ¨#HacemosPatria¨.

Prior the president´s comments, Bruno Rodríguez, chancellor in the island qualified the press as brave, committed and faithful defender of the truth above lies and manipulations.

With Marti’s ethic as a path for Cuban journalism, #HacemosPatria we face those who do not cease trying to destroy the island, the Revolution, added the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Activities are carried out in all provinces to celebrate this day, while paying tribute to those outstanding workers in the sector and the different mass media.

The Day for the Day of the Press will have as a climax an international colloquium dedicated to the newspaper Patria, to be develop today and tomorrow, on which journalists of the communication means and institutions of left of the world will participate, as well as academics, political and social personalities from several countries.
