Avanza identificación de oportunidades de inversión extranjera en la capital

Havana is working on 13 business projects for foreign investment of entities of local subordination for their future insertion in the Portfolio of Opportunities, informed Luis Carlos Góngora Domínguez, general director of foreign trade and external relations od the government of the capital.

The official added that in 2021 they worked on 15 of them for the incorporation into the portfolio of Opportunities, which favors the creation of small and medium sized businesses that contribute to territorial development strategies.

When presenting it in the last hours, the report on the Balance of the Provincial Directorate of Foreign Trade and International Relations, he stressed out that although none has materialized, this is a significant advance.

As regard to foreign investment in the territory during the last calendar year, he pointed out that factors such as the blockade, the international crisis created by the Covid-19 pandemic and domestic factors led to little progress in the activity.

He stated that special attention is being paid to the wholesale trade sector in order to ensure the supply of inputs to the city´s producers.

At the meeting, it transcended that more work must be done in the preparation of projects and their promotion, in the training of the personnel that attends the activity, in speeding up the negotiation process with foreign investors as well as the processing of permits, licenses and authorizations.

Maritza del Carmen Romero Drake, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party, Yanet Hernández Pérez, deputy governor of the city, Roberto López Hernández, vice minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and Jorge Luis Villa Miranda, coordinator of programs and objectives of the Economy of the Provincial Government led the meeting.

Also in attendance were mayors, foreign trade specialists of the municipalities, heads of the departments of international cooperation projects, company directors and new economic actors, among others.
