Santiago Alfonso Company will be presented at the National Theater.

On March 25, 26 and 27, 2022, the Santiago Alfonso Company, directed by maestro Santiago Alfonso, 2006 National Dance Prize winner, will perform at the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theater of Cuba.

An ACN report that the program is a tribute to all those precursors who, through rumba, danzón, son and bolero, transited through Cuban popular music and contributed all that knowledge to jazz and other contemporary sonorities, especially Mario Bauzá.

Bauzá (Havana-1911-United States-1923) was a Cuban saxophonist, clarinetist, trumpet player, arranger, composer and pioneer of what today is known as Afro-Cuban jazz, according to information provided by the National Theater.

The show will have two luxury guests, two brilliant artists of the island's musical catalog, Haila María Mompié and Bobby Carcassés.

The performances will take place on the 25th, 26th and 27th. Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 5:00 p.m.

Santiago Alfonso, prestigious dancer and choreographer, is the founder of the company Danza Contemporánea de Cuba created in 1959, belonging to the National Council of Culture and the National Theater of Cuba.

Alfonso is internationally recognized for directing successful shows presented by the Cabaret Tropicana, both in Cuba and in other latitudes, adds the source, which stresses the artist's experience and professionalism, which have allowed him to occupy a prominent place in the choreographic field in the Caribbean country.

Tickets will be available from Tuesday to Thursday from 1 to 6 pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 to 8.45 pm and Sundays from 10 am to 5.15 pm, at a price of 20 pesos (CUP).
