1989.  The Association of Pedagogues of Cuba is created.

The Association groups professionals devoted to teaching, research and other activities related to pedagogy sciences.

It has the aim of supporting the development of its members and promotes educational problem solving researches. 

All Cuban educators can be members of the Association of Pedagogues of Cuba although they are not working.

2005.  Luís Suardíaz dies in Havana.

He was born in the city of Camagüey, on February 5th, 1936. 

He was a poet, critic, editor and journalist since. He joins the literary groups of Camagüey together with Severo Sarduy, Rolando Escardó and other writers of the province, since 1953.

He worked as Provincial Culture Coordinator, Director-General for literature, Publications and Publishing of the National Council of Culture at that time and executive member of the National Publishing House of Cuba, headed by Alejo Carpentier.

He was the First Vicepresident of the Unión of Cuban writers and Artists (UNEAC in Sanish) and Deputy Director-General in Prensa Latina and Director of the Political Publishing House.
