Honor is paid to women in the movie La Rampa in the capital.

The Rampa movie hosts until next March 13th the movie cycle Pioneras del cine, from Alice Guy to Agnès Varda, the inventors of movie. Specially for the celebration of the International Women´s Day.

Tribuna La Habana Newspaper reports that the celebration is sponsored by the  Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográficos (ICAIC), and is organized together with the Embassy  of France in Cuba, The French Alliance and the  Instituto Français in the island.

According to the daily, the day will talk about the influence of the precursors of the seventh art and will make the dialogue around the works and the contemporary audiovisual production, easier.

It says, in the first week only the film Papichas, sueño de libertad  will be screened, it is a production of 2019 of the film maker Mounia Meddour. It develops in the 90´s, and tells the story of a young student and her fights against the radicals in the Algerian civil war, with dramatic impacting turns and also unknown to the ones who know contemporary Algeria.

 The second part of the cycle will be from March 9th to 13th and will include shorts of Alice Guy, filmed between 1898 and 1907. Guy is considered the first female  filmaker  in producing a fiction film, in the history of movie. This time we will see  Les Resultats du feminisme, Chez le magnetiseur and  Avenue d' la ópera, among others.

We will also see on the Rampa  big screen  La sonriente Madame Beudet, a 1923 french drama directed by Germaine Dulac, considered as the first exponent of the feminism in the movie world.

Thursday 10th, that is dedicated to the documentary, with París 1900, of Nicole Védrès, about the city and the passing of time, filmed in 1947 which included images of the life in Paris between the years 1900 and 1914.

Friday 11th  they will show the anímate series Valerosas, of Mai Nguyen and Charlotte Cambon De La Valette, that show the capacity of different women to impact society. De Varda, on Sturday 12th, the 1962 musical drama will be screened , Cleo from 5 to 7, which narrates the sadness cáncer can cause and the emerging of love in unexpected moments. Sunday 13th is the end of the cycle, with Cuando las mujeres se implican, a french 2003 documentary of Paule Zadjermann, that goes along the history of feminism through three generations of Women.

The shows will be from 6.00 p.m. and tickets cost 5 pesos (CUP).
