José Martí Memorial hosts a collection of 18 masters of the plastic arts in Cuba.

Starting this Friday, the Jose Marti Memorial will host the exhibition Art with Art, which presents works by 18 creators renowned for their esthetic quality in the plastic arts and intrinsically linked to Cuba's cultural development.

Belonging to the Luciano Mendez Collection, the show integrates pieces by masters Alfredo Sosabravo, Manuel Mendive, Pedro Pablo Oliva, Roberto Fabelo, Rafael Perez Alonso, and will be open to the public throughout the month of March.

Works by the widely recognized Alexis Leyva (Kcho), Luis E. Camejo, Douglas Perez Castro, Juan Roberto Diago, along with their fellow countrymen Vicente Hernandez, Niels Reyes, Eduardo Mendez Navarro, Alejandro Gomez Cangas, Roldan Lauzan, Yaily Martinez Molina, Gabriela Pez and Daniela Aguila complete the selection.

Also noteworthy is the exhibition of the painting "La abducción del niño Jesús" (2021), which pays tribute to the visual artist Ernesto Rancaño, one of the most outstanding exponents of contemporary plastic arts of his generation in the nation, who died recently.

For his part, Spanish collector and curator Luciano Mendez arrived in the largest Antillean archipelago for professional reasons in the early years of the new century and, interested in Caribbean creation, his philanthropic work exceeds 600 works, part of it deposited at the DA2 in Salamanca to be exhibited.

This collection has been exhibited at the Spanish Embassy in Cuba (2011), at the Servando Cabrera Museum (2013), at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso (2018) and at the Domus Artium Museum in Salamanca, Spain, on three occasions.
