1960.   At the Havana docks known as Pan American Dock, a sabotage occurred that caused an explosion that destroyed the French ship La Coubre. It had sailed from the French port of Le Havre, calling at Belgium where it took on board military cargo for our defense. She then called at Hamburg and Liverpool before reaching Havana. In some of these ports the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency organized the criminal sabotage that mourned French and Cuban families.

2010.   Joaquín M. Condall dies in Havana at the age of 87.

Condall died in Havana at the age of 87.

He was born on April 7, 1923.

In his professional career since 1952, he was director of musical programs and big shows. Among the television programs he directed were Jueves de Partagás, San Nicolás del Peladero, Fin de semana, Su noche favorita and Cita con Rosita. He was artistic director of Cabaret Tropicana for almost 20 years.  He is particularly remembered for his outstanding contribution in the preparation of the closing gala of the Pan American Games, held in Havana in 1991.
