Havana's Digital Transformation Strategy Presented

The Strategy for the Digital Transformation of Havana (2022-2026) was presented today to the Council of the Administration of Regla, a plan that aims to improve public services so that citizens and economic actors increase welfare and public confidence through timely, accessible services provided on equal terms.

It seeks to improve public policies, looking for more transparency, participation and interaction with citizens, based on the intensive and strategic use of data and public information.

Raúl Vantroi Navarro Martínez, advisor to the Coordinator of Programs and Objectives for the Industry of the Provincial Government, was in charge of the presentation and explained that digital transformation is the integration of technology in all areas of an organization, fundamentally changing the way it operates and provides value to its customers.

It is, he said, not only about implementing new technologies, but also about changing its culture, model and organizational structure.

Navarro Martínez added that it constitutes a radical change in the execution of processes, production and delivery of products and services to people, adapting to their needs and making intelligent use of available technologies.

He pointed out that smart cities are a global trend in the use of technologies for innovation, the development of communities and the improvement of the quality of life of their citizens, oriented towards sustainability.

According to the specialist, innovative solutions are guaranteed in different areas such as mobility, urban planning, energy, government and the environment.

This, he added, favors social development as it offers diverse spaces to create new businesses and generate ideas; in addition to reducing public spending for the proper management of services.

Smart cities improve the transparency of local administrations, providing real-time information to citizens, he said.

Among the areas of action, he mentioned Governance and Coordination, Innovation and Citizen Competencies.
