Endeavor in favor of world peace is recognized in Havana.

The executive secretary for the World Peace Council (CMP, IN SPANISH), Iraklis Tsavdaridis, stressed out today in Havana the steady and effortlessly support of Cuba to actions developed by this organization against militarism and war.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Tsavdaridis claimed that the Caribbean nation stands in first line of combat in the fight for the pacific coexistence, and the VII International Seminary of Peace and for the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases taking place in the island´s territory is an expression of the country´s commitment to the fight.

At the same time, from May 4 to 5 in Guantanamo City, the XXII World Assembly of the CMP will take place working as a preamble for the global meeting to be held this year in Hanoi, Vietnam.

About these meetings, sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People(ICAP), the Greek executive pointed out that all of them have a great symbolism when carried out in Cuban territory, where the United States illegally keeps a military base, against people and the government of the island´s will.

He stated, likewise, that this will be an opportunity to acknowledge the success of the Antillean nation in the fight against Covid-19 outbreak and the nation´s outcomes shared with the world through the development of the vaccines and the sanitary assistance displayed in more than 50 countries, despite the strengthening of the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States.

During this contact, Fernando González, President of the ICAP, re-affirmed Cuba´s commitment with World Peace and re-stated the support of the island to this organism, settled in Athens since 200, in which, organizations and movements of more than 90 countries participate.
