Poster Exhibition in Havana pays tribute to Italian filmmaker´s work.

An exhibition of posters at Chaplin and 23 and 12 movie-theaters in Havana joined the tribute in Cuba for the centenary of the birth of the Italian Filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini.

According to the digital site Cubacine, the exhibition is the result of the launching made by the CartelON project in conjunction with the Italian Embassy in Cuba and will open to the public next Wednesday, March 2nd.

As explained by the organizing team, the works in tribute of the outstanding writer, actor, journalist and painter comprise 10 posters born from the creativity of a group of young people, based on ideas about 10 films of Pier Paolo Pasolini.

The exhibition of the pieces in the lobby of both cinemas will provoke the visual attraction of the spectators who attend the projections conceived in the film programming cycle.

Pier Paolo is highly revered in the Italian seventh art and treasures among his cinematographic works Mamma Roma (1964), The Gospel of Saint Matthew (1964), Pajaritos y Pajarracos (1966), Edipo Rey (1966) and Medea (1969).

His talent got printed not only in the cinematography but in some other fields where his skills were developed with great mastery as the linguistic, literature and painting.

He became a controversial character in Italy due to anti-fascist denouncing style, his associated ideas to the left and communism, and the sexual topics displayed in some of his works, considered taboos back in that time.
