Digital television deployment is covering ground in Cuba.

Digital television is moving forward in Cuba, where, from today on the analogic broadcast of Educativo and Educativo 2 channels will end as part of the first transition stage to Land Digital Television.

The transition implies changes in the technological infrastructure in order to reduce the consumption of the energy carriers, ensure a better performance and the decongestion of the radio-electric spectrum.   

This was assured by Ariadne Plasencia, president of the Grupo Empresarial de la Informatica y las Comunicaciones(GEIC).

She detailed that this first stage will cover from Pinar del Rio to Matanzas, in the western part of the island and qualified the transition as a technological jump in accordance with the world trend.

She added that 294 000 de-codifying devices for the reception of digital signal were manufactured in 2021 which benefited over 39 000 people in vulnerable conditions.

Also, it was guaranteed the total amount of hybrid televisions destined to the educational process in all teaching levels.
