José María Vitier will present a new album

Cuban pianist and composer José María Vitier, together with flautist Niurka González, created the new album XXI Bienaventuranzas.

The first opportunity to listen live to a selection of the XXI Bienaventuranzas will be on February 27th at Havana's Teatro Marti, in a concert that will bring the pieces together, but on that occasion with soprano Barbara Llanes.

A report from Granma states that the phonogram is made up of 21 compositions, and proposes "from its eclecticism and variety expressive alternatives converging in the same participatory look and summoning hope," according to the introductory words of this suite, dedicated to the interpretative capacity of Gonzalez.

He emphasizes that the plate invites in each piece to the search for beauty, especially in times marked by physical distances and the lack of certainties about tomorrow, which force to resort to art to "break discouragements" and search for essences governed by another tempo.

Vitier recalled in a press conference the biblical conceptualization of the Beatitudes, conceived as that prayer that arises in the midst of crisis, in difficult times to bring faith and confidence in the advent of better times.

Regarding the genesis of the album, the outstanding musician commented that the compositions of the album originated from a series of musical prayers published from his profile in the social network Facebook, without previous planning, and all the articulation of artistic expressions originated by this: painting, design and documentary.

For his part, González described as exceptional the experience that demanded a high level of preparation, hours of rehearsal and teamwork to achieve the perfect fit, combined with the mood of each song.

The audiovisual material, by filmmaker Lester Hamlet, was created during the rehearsal and recording process, and includes interviews with the protagonists of the project and other special moments.
