The Teaching Polyclinic of Lawton, opened its doors. Located at the municipality of Diez de Octubre and leader of the Doctors and Nurses Program for the families’ care it was founded by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on January 4th ,1984.

Bárbara Maritza Agon Fernández, President of the Municipal Assembly of Diez de Octubre, Aimara Guzmán Carrazana, first secretary of the PCC, Dr. Emilio Iznaga, head of Health Sector in the province, Dr. Yadsia Sánchez Limonta, director of Municipal Health, doctors, nurses and the staff involved in the project, attended to the inauguration, that took place in recent days.

Polyclinics are the main institution of the National Health System in charge of the promotion, protection and restore of the health of the population. At the same time, these facilities are in charge of bringing integral assistance to patients, family and community in general under a bio-psychological approach. In this places teaching, medical assistance, hygiene and epidemiology, as well as research merge.
