In Cuba, every February 15, men and women that guarantee the community services celebrate their day.

This way, an homage is paid to those collectives of the sector in Cuba, which face every day the different disconformities of the people about the service, because of the limitations, the lack of supplies, and despite this inconveniences, they do their jobs with dedication and the eagerness of doing a well done job.

This Day was chosen in commemoration to Commander Faustino Pérez Hernández, hero of the sector, founder of the July 26 Movement and member of the crew of Gramma Yacht who was born this day in 1920 and worked as head of the Agroforest Municipal Company ¨Victoria de Girón¨ becoming an example of dedication and consecration.

Faustino re-organized the July 26 Movement in Havana and after the Revolution’s triumph led for more than 25 years the Community Services since the Attention Office for the local Organs of the People’s Power.

Since 1995 it was determined to select a day for paying tribute to the labor deployed for the workers of the sector.
