Visit of INDER to Havana
The visit of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) to the provincial directorate of Sports in Havana began this Friday. José Cedeño Tamayo, general director of Sports for All at INDER, first explained the importance given by the country's top management to the development of sports for all as well as recreational activities.
He stressed the need for quality Physical Education classes, as well as having as many sports reference schools as necessary in each municipality.
He reiterated the importance of Sport For All and pointed out that the competitive system has to be born from the base and encourage the study of chess in the educational institutions.
During the meeting, which was attended by Tatiana Viera Hernandez, coordinator of Objectives and Programs of the Government of Havana, it was announced that work is being done to promote the practice of chess in the 15 academies that exist in Havana.
It was also explained about the development of inter-neighborhood competitions, where soccer five-a-side, basketball 3x3 and neighborhood soccer stand out. Another topic discussed was the inauguration, last Saturday, of the Little League Baseball.
Cedeño Tamayo indicated that every weekend it is possible to compete in the province's sports teams. In this respect, he explained that there is no limitation for this and reminded that the majority of the systematic practitioners are lost today, because it is not being indicated that it is necessary to change this tendency, that it is necessary to control and count the neighborhood sports. Regarding social sports, he said that there has been a decrease and called for reversing this situation.
Cedeño Tamayo called for the creation of strategies for a better use of the sports areas in each municipality, especially those that are being repaired. She also pointed out the importance of the capital for the development of sports in the country and stressed that it is necessary to improve the quality of Physical Education classes.
Tatiana Viera stated that it is important to resume the festivals of the classes, to give a better use to our sports facilities and the importance of reviving the labor sports tournaments. She also insisted that there is still much to be done in the School of School Sports Initiation (EIDE), despite the changes that have been made, and said that they will continue to work on its improvements, and in the fulfillment of the integration of sports glories with the EIDE.
Referring to the economic issue, Viera Hernández explained that it is necessary to be much more efficient and rational in the budget for sports in the capital, although he acknowledged that progress has been made in this regard.
