Alejandro Gil, the Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning stated that the incorporation of new actors to the Cuban economy should revitalize it, from the productive chaining and the competence.

On the television program Mesa Redonda the Minister made reference to the extension and improvements in the non -  governmental sector, that adds new micro, small and medium companies (mipymes), as well as non -agricultural associations  which should have favorable impact this year. 

 Gil mentioned that today the country advances in the creation, registration and operation of the entities, that are around two thousand and generate 30 thousand new jobs.

He highlighted the existing potentials, then around eight thousand self -employed workers (private) have more than three workers hired, so those business should become mipymes or associations.    

He also added that around 40 percent of the non- governmental companies approved are new. 

He commented that this sector should be a complement for the economy, since it provides new products and services and added that it should generate chaining with the government entities and promote a competence to revitalize the development of the last mentioned.

He highlighted that 200 of them, with 275 workers, are applying payment systems different from the salaries scale which is an incitement to the production and a formula that generates autonomy but at the same time it demands more responsibility.

 The Vice Prime Minister said this possibility expand in 2022, and made clear that it will be in compliance with the established rules. 

Nevertheless, more than 500 hundred government companies are making a loss currently, some of them as a consequence of the monetary order, that established the value of one dollar in 24 Cuban pesos, instead of one by one as it was before, so problems in their work were evident.        

Gil explained “The national currency devaluation has allowed us to see clearly a set of operations in the economy which maybe gave some profitsbefore, but they really didn’t”. 

He said that it is a priority for this year to check the causes that make an entity have loss, one by one, to determine which are really inefficient and act.     

The Minister underlined that the year 2022 has to be a key year to shock the government companies and affirmed that despite the tense economic situation there are objectives to improve in a four percent.
