The BioHabana 2022 Congress, organized by the Group of the Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba (BioCubaFarma), will be held from April 25 to 29 at this capital's Convention Palace as an opportunity to build alliances that will have a greater impact on public health.

The main objective of the meeting, aimed at the scientific and business community of the world, is to carry out an exercise to translate Life Sciences into Business Development, in a new scientific, innovation management and global health context.

According to a BioCubaFarma press release, the Congress will be a unique space, due to its content and the moment in which it is being held (due to the COVID-19 pandemic), hence it will enable a broad debate on the experiences and results of its participants.

Among the topics to be addressed is precisely the COVID-19 pandemic, and the strategy followed by the Ministry of Public Health and the Cuban government, based on science, will be presented.

Researchers, specialists and health authorities will be able to explain the therapeutic and epidemic control strategies in their respective countries and regions, as well as the proposals for the management of coronavirus infection once it becomes normal or endemic.

The event will also discuss medical technology, industry 4.0, chronic inflammation and aging, and even agricultural biotechnology will be present.

A space will be created to discuss and deepen the most innovative results for the use of biotechnology as a powerful tool to care for the environment, increase the availability of food and advance the purpose of a single health.

Brain diseases will also be discussed at BioHabana 2022, where the potential of BioCubaFarma for neurotechnological development and its social introduction will be addressed.

Cancer immunotherapy will have its space through the presentation of recent clinical achievements following the use of antibodies that block immune checkpoints and adoptive T-cell transfer therapies.

These therapies have the potential to induce durable responses in multiple solid and hematological tumors and have thus transformed treatment algorithms for numerous types of malignancies.

Bioprocesses, their developability and design space will be another theme of BioHabana 2022 where its organizers intend to share experiences and forge strategic collaborations in the field of biologics development and production.

Innovation in new business models for high-tech sectors will also be addressed, and the Congress will be an exchange platform to showcase/identify Cuban biopharmaceutical assets with competitive potential to access global markets.

BioHabana 2022 contemplates the organization of symposia with keynote lectures and workshops for the presentation of papers in posters and/or oral communications.

It will be possible to participate virtually, with access to the abstracts of all the papers, digital version of the posters, and online participation in the keynote lectures of the symposia.
