The official report of the Ministry of Public Health informs that at the end of yesterday, February 8, 919 new positive cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, for a total of 1,56,846.

A total of 6,604 cases remain hospitalized; 10,077 are suspected and 120 are under surveillance.

To date, 8,450 deaths have been reported (three per day), 1,586 medical discharges were given (per day), accumulating 1,42,273 patients recovered (98.6%). A total of 6,604 active cases were confirmed, of which 9,633 with stable clinical evolution.

In Havana, 38 cases were identified, of which 36 are autochthonous and 24 imported. The municipalities of Cotorro, Marianao, Regla and San Miguel del Padrón did not report any positive cases. In the other districts, the distribution was as follows:

For COVID-19, 14,939 samples were studied, resulting in 919 (6.2%) positive samples. The country accumulates 12 million 828 thousand 848 samples taken and 1 million 56 thousand 846 positive.

Of the confirmed cases, 902 were contacts of confirmed cases, 10 with a source of infection abroad, and 3 with an unspecified source of infection.

There were 534 females and 385 males. 48 patients were in intensive care, of whom 23 were critical and 25 serious.

A total of 5.1% (47) of the 1,919 positive cases were asymptomatic, making a total of 144,040, which represents 13.6% of those confirmed to date.

The 919 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age, 195; from 20 to 39, 253; from 40 to 59 years of age, 266; and from 60 and over, 205 cases.

As of February 8, Cuba reports a lethality rate of 0.80 % of Covid-19 per million inhabitants, lower than the 1.45 % in the world and 1.8 % in the Americas.
