Workshops will be held in Cerro for best knowing the municipality.

The Cultural Center La Llave, will celebrate the 127th anniversary of José Martí´s fall in combat and the 434th anniversary of the settlement of el Cerro as first urban territory in Havana with a system of workshops about the history of the municipality.
Sponsored by the University of Havana(UH) and the Cultural Center La Llave, the workshops, under the name of ¨Let´s meet the neighborhood ¨ will dig in the history of this territory and will be carried out by PhD in Sciences María Amelia González Broniella, who will initiate this meetings next May.
González Broniella stated that the historical period selected for this historic laboratory has been selected taking in consideration the National Apostle´s death and the coincidence that, on May 8th in the same period, but in 1589, the municipality of El Cerro is settled as the first urban territory in Habana.
The assistant teacher of the UH explained the need for this demarcation to bring its history to the community, by the love and defense it generates around its traditions and customs. Likewise, she re-affirmed that the willingness of carrying out actions in favor of El Cerro implies highlighting its values, worthy of being recognized and respected.
Workshops are scheduled to be given once a month in the afternoon, with an hour duration, taking into account the sanitary measures established in the capital in this pandemic times.
