Amado Martínez in Memoriam Bolero Festival is summoned in the municipality of Playa.

Amado Martínez in Memoriam Bolero Festival is one of the most expected events organized by Casa de la Cultura of Santa Fe, in the municipality of Havana. For the joy of those who cultivate this musical genre, the festival will be re-released next February 11 at 6:00p.m. with free entrance for the public, at Biblioteca Frank País, according to information provided by the organizing committee.
For that reason, interested must subscribe through 7209-80-48 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, while auditions will be held at the Biblioteca Fran País, located at 3rd street between 300 and 302, in the town of Santa Fe, on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of February, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
This is an event that, during its previous 19 editions has reaffirmed the validity of bolero- musical genre born in Cuba in the early nineteenth century- in this area. Ana María Hernández, recalled that it has become a traditional appointment, created after Amado Martínez´s death, emblematic figure in the town, who were musician, natural cultural promoter, guitar professor and creator of the amateur artist movement.
The Festival makes a reverence to Bolero and prize and disseminate the talent of those who cultivate this musical genre, whether they be songwriters or just singers. Winners become part of the amateur artist movement – and could be promoted for being categorized- and are introduced in cultural events to be performed in the municipality, such as the so called Literary Tea, among other occasions.
Maidelín Dorticós Herrera, winner for the last edition celebrated last 2020 when interpreting El breve espacio en que no estás, will open the Festival with her performance to which winners for other editions will also attend.
Beatriz Burgos Castañeda, director of Casa de a Cultura of Santa Fe, pointed out that Amado Martínez in Memoriam Bolero Festival reaches the entire province, therefore, residents from other municipalities in Havana could participate   as it has happened before.
She highlighted the significance of this events for the town of Santa Fe as well as other cultural proposals designed to make the community more attached in the defense of cultural values and their sense of belonging.
