1878. The botanist Francisco Adolfo Sauvalledies in Havana.

He was born in Charleston, South Caroline, United States, on July 1st ,1807. He came to live in Cuba in 1824, after a long journey along Europe, where he found the ideal space to develop his research on nature.

He was interested in Silviculture and Malacology, two branches of natural sciences. He was also outstanding because of his interest on the Cuban medical flora as well as the correction of botanical classifications and the collection of several species of plants. Among them we can mention the one dedicated to the President of the academy of Medical, Physical and Natural Sciences of Havana, Doctor Nicolás José Gutiérrez, named Zamia Gutierrezii.

2012. The a singer and composer Sara González,dies in Havana.

 She was born in the capital of Cuba, in the area of Marianao, on July 13th, 1951. His father was a cigar maker and her mother was a seamstress. Both of them had a great sense of cubania and justice, as well as a good taste for music and dancing.

She was an outstanding singer, composer and guitarist and one of the emblematic figures of the Movimiento de la Nueva Trova in Cuba. Her exceptional vocal qualities made her gain respect and admiration, not only in Cuba but also abroad, where she worked.
