The popular consultation on the draft law of the Code of the Families began last Sunday 30 in Cuba and will be extended until April 30 in more than 78 000 meeting points.

With the call that is expected to reach more than seven million Cubans, are arranged 12 513 electoral commissions of the constituency (base instance of the form of the government on the island) and may also participate the Cuban community abroad in the embassies and consular offices.

Maria Esther Bacallao, secretary of the National Electoral Council, stated that more than 15 000 jurists participated in the previous training stage, including 1606 law students.

A dynamic test carried out on February 27 and 28 allowed corroborating the organization and preparation of the electoral authorities, IT personnel and other participants in the process, as well as the effectiveness and safety of the systems for information processing.

Bacallao assured that the 1428 supervisors and the 27891 collaborators from all over the country who will act as guarantors of the process will assured the transparency and control of the consultation.

The delivery pf the proposals to the Drafting Commission for their processing is expected to be completed in May and prior to that date, information breaks were planned, he said.

For the collection of all the opinions expressed by the population, there will be the support of programs prepared by the University of Computing Sciences.

The popular consultation will lead to debate the 24th version of the project approved last December by Cuban deputies.

The proposals will be submitted to the National Assembly of the People´s Power, which will approve a new version to be later submitted to a popular referendum.
