The presentation of the congress of sciences applied to sports medicine, Cienmede 2022, was held in this capital city.

It took place during an exchange of authorities of the Institute of Sports Medicine(IMD) with directors of the counterparts centers in the provinces and the Special Municipality Isla de la Juventud.

In statements to JIT, Dr. Ediunys Carazana Garcés, executive secretary of the organizing committee, said that Cienmede will be held from June 15 to 17 at Plaza America Convention Center in Varadero, where 100 foreign delegates and about 300 nationals are expected to attend.

Specialist in Sports Medicine, general comprehensive and rehabilitation, cardiologists and other related specialties will be able to participate. Also attending will be stomatologists, psychologists, nurses, physiotherapists, physical culture graduates, health technologists and others.

The also vice-president of the trading company Cubadeportes S.A, said that as part of the event the companies producing and marketing medical and sports equipment, nutritional supplements and others, will be able to exhibit their products.

Dr. Sofía C León Pérez, president of the Scientific Committee of the Congress, mentioned among the topics to be addressed the biomedical control of training in high competition and rehabilitation and physio prophylaxis in sports.

In addition, there were included topics on Covid-19 in sports, nutrition, physical activity, rehabilitation and quality of life, as well as training methodology and anti-doping control and education will also be discussed.

Dr. Pablo Castillo, director of the IMD, valued as very important the meeting with the provincial counterparts, as he offered extensive details about the scientific events and other activities that will allow to increase knowledge on the topic.
