With the capacity to accommodate 15 high-risk pregnant women during the gestation process, a maternity home is being built in the municipality of Regla as part of the social works that are being carried out in the overseas territory in honor of the 335th anniversary of the founding of the town.

Irania Benedico, municipal director of Health, explained that the facility is being built in a former family house, located on Calixto García street between 27 de Noviembre and Aranguren and that it is being built in the municipality of Regla to serve the new purposes.

The directive commented that the center will provide care to pregnant women from three People´s Council of Regla: Loma Modelo, Guacanamar and Casablanca, which will allow a substantial support to the maternal and infant program in all its dimension and social scope.

In the health sector of Regla, at the same time, an accounting management center and a doctor´s office for night emergencies are being built, the latter scheduled to be inaugurated on January 28th, as part of the festivities on the occasion of the 169th anniversary of the birth of José Martí.
