On January 13, the current Unidad Empresarial de Base Litográfica, which belongs to Ediciones Caribe, will celebrate its 115th anniversary.

Ever since it was founded, this company has been linked, to the production of the tobacco labels that have accompanied the boxes and cigars of the famous Cuban Habanos marketed around the world, a major source of income for the country.

In 1907 it emerged as Compañía Litográfica Habana with the union of all the workshops in the city that were dedicated, since the, to this highly important export line.

In these 115 years, the institution has not only kept this tradition alive, but has also incorporated the production of labels and seals for national cigar packages, cases for backpacking medicines that are commercialized in national currency and for export, cases for food backpacking of different types and formats, among other productions. For these work it counts on highly qualified labor force with more than 30 interrupted years in this center.

To commemorate this event, was exhibition was inaugurated in the lobby of the facility, sponsored by the National Association of Vitofilica of Cuba a non-governmental association, which brings together those interested in collecting habilitations and other items that ornament the boxes related to cigars or Habanos. This exhibition summarize samples of tobacco habitations produced in the center since its emergence in stone engravings to today’s offset printing.

Fernando González García, President of the National Association of Vitofilica of Cuba, Humberto Veléz Blanco, Vice-president, Jesus Valdés Arias and Mario Frigola Borrero, Secretaries of this institution, members Ramiro Fabares Borrero and Armando Fernández López attended to the event. Also in attendance were Bernardo Borges Cleger, director of the Caribe Company, Hilda Abad Perdomo, director of the UEB Litográfica, as well as members of the Board, the Party, Workers Syndicate and members of the staff of the entity.
