Cultural program Libro a la carte , dedicated to Jose Martí.

Those attending the meeting wich will take place on January 27, at the Fayad Jamís bookstore will be able to purchase the book La Vigilia perpetua. MartÍ en New York, by author Marlene Vázquez Pérez, as well as the volumes prepared by the researcher entitled Antonio Bachiller y Morales, Edicion Crítica and Norteamericanos: apostoles, poetas,bandidos…

The researcher and essayist Marlene Vázques Pérez will be the guest of honor next 27th, at three o´clock in the afternoon, of the cultural program Libro a la carta, in charge of the journalist and critic Fernando Rodríguez Sosa on the occasion of the 169th anniversary of the birth of José Martí.

Those attending the meeting, taking place at the Fayad Jamis bookstore, will be able to acquire the book La vigilia perpetua. Martí en Nueva York, by Vázquez Pérez as well as the volumes also prepared by the same author with the titles: Antonio Bachiller y Morales, Edicion Crítica and Norteamericanos: apostoles, poetas,bandidos… with texts by José Martí, all published by the Cebtro de Estudios Martianos.

A documented and exhaustive researcher of Jose Martí´s work, Vázquez Pérez holds a PhD in Literary Sciences from the University of Havana and currently runs the Centro de Estudios Martianos.

Her biography includes, among other researches, Martí y América: permanencia del diálogo , Essay Prize Santa Clara City Foundation 2003 and Martí y Carpentier: de la fábula a la historia, Critica Martiana Prize Medardio Vitier 2006.

Among other awards, she has received the Premio Dador 2003 awarded by the Cuban Book Institute and the Bolivar-Martí Journalism Award 2014, the latter granted by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for her valuable work in disseminating Martí´s ideology through print and digital journalism.

Libro a la carta is a monthly space created by Rodríguez Sosa in 2000, at the Fayad Jamís bookstore headquarters with the purpose of establishing a dialogue with contemporary Cuban writers which enrich contemporary island literature with their works.
