The event was an opportunity for the rescue of Marti's work among the students of this House of Higher Studies and had the support of institutions such as Casa de las Américas, the Marti's movement of the faculties, among others.

About 80 works were submitted to the contest and were evaluated by professors of the UH, who worked in three commissions related to research, presentation of essays and cultural works. Professor Francisca López Civeira, president of the university's Cátedra Martiana highlighted the quality of the works presented and exhorted the participants to continue discovering Martí's world which is related to all spheres of life.

As part of these activities, a Martí panel was also held with the presence of Abel Prieto Jiménez, president of Casa de las Américas, who expressed to the participants how important it is to reach Martí. For him, it is a challenge for Cuban society today to defend pillars such as Martí and Fidel, essential for our sovereignty project. "In this difficult moment we need the word of Martí (...) We must revisit the essay Our America, a document that seems to have been written for eternity".

The intellectual also insisted on the need to do everything possible to fill people with culture, because, as Fidel said, it should never be lost. He added that history should also be reflected in the media in an attractive way that reaches all generations.

In this sense, Professor José Antonio Baujín, Vice Rector of University Extension of the University of Havana reflected on how important it is to honor and multiply Martí in these times. On behalf of the university, he thanked all those present and invited them to continue the work of the  Juvenil Martiano Movement.

During the event, several students were awarded prizes, mainly from the faculties of Tourism and Law. The Ismaelillo award was also given to professors and students who have contributed to promote and socialize the work of the Apostle.
