América Theater hosts the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional

The Conjunto Folklórico Nacional (National Folkloric Ensemble) returned to national stages this last Saturday and Sunday with a program of concert with the compliance of the sanitary protocols to avoid Covid-19 contagious.

The proposal was an homage to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro on the fifth anniversary of his departure and at the same time a commemoration of the 502nd anniversary of the foundation of Villa San Cristóbal de la Habana.

Variety Theater America hosted the Company, directed by Master Manolo Micher, with a selection of known plays of their Yoruba, carabalí, franco-haitian and Cuban popular music repertoire.

At the show there were presented plays like Abakuá, Eshu, Yemayá, Obatereo, Echa pa´ca la Rumba and Dahomeñó, titles that had set standards on the performance of this renown dance-musical company, that will be celebrating sixth decades of its creation on May 2022.

The public that attended to the Coliseo de Galeano, in Centro Habana, on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 5:00 pm. enjoyed of well-known musical pieces of Cuban music, mostly Rumba and Son.

The Conjunto Folklórico Nacional is an emblematic exponent of the most genuine features of Cuban music and dance; consecrated names of national culture have been part of its staff.

To this Company belong National Dance Awards Rogelio Martínez Furé, Zenaida Armenteros, Silvina Fabars and Johanne Garcia, dance teachers Alfredo O´Farril, Juan Dios Ramos, Domingo Pau, brothers Justo and Gerardo Pelladito.

In the meantime, its percussionists have been setting the tone and there we have Alberto Villareal, Jesús Pérez y and brothers Aspirina among their most known referents.
