The patriot and archivist Joaquin Llaverías Martínez dies.

He was born on July 27, 1875 in Havana. Outstanding writer, researcher and archivist, he dedicated 58 years of his life to the conservation and diffusion of the existing stationery in the National Archive of Cuba. He was director of this institution and developed a tireless work in the formation of archivists. He belonged to the Academy of the History of Cuba, of which he was permanent archivist and occasional director of its Annals. He was also among the members of the Society of Cuban Folklore and of the Academies of History of the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

Cuban Folklore Society

It was constituted in Havana on January 6, 1923. It was created with the objective of collecting, classifying and comparing the traditional elements of Cuban popular life. In its work, it promoted research on the country's pre-Columbian past.
