
Details on the partial transition to digital terrestrial television in the capital city
As it has been reported through the national media, between November 30th and December 15th, as part of the first stage of partial transition to digital terrestrial television(DTT)will be carried out in the western part of the country, which will stop transmitting the analog signal of the Educativo and Educativo 2 channels in that area.
The process is carried out with the aim of saving energy, reorganize the channels in such way that allows the continuity of the DTT implementation project in the nation, stop using obsolete technology and release the 700 MHz frequency band to expand the coverage of 4G telephony service, as part of the informatization process of the society, explained in a statement the Havana division of the RadioCuba Company.
These changes will not prevent the population from watching television, they are only reoriented to optimize its use.
It specifies that Havana has six television transmitting center and five of them will be reorganized as follows:
- Radio and TV broadcasting service(Televilla), located in the municipality of La Lisa:
Stops transmitting on educative channel on analog channel 4.
Stops transmitting Educativo 2 channel on analog channel 15.
Multivision channel is no longer transmitted on analog channel 21, and is now transmitted on analog channel 15, enhancing Multivision´s service, which is highly accepted by the population.
The other services are kept on their usual channels.
- Radio and TV broadcasting service (Havana Libre Hotel), located in the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución:
It stops transmitting the Educativo channel on analog channel 12.
The Educativo 2 channel is no longer broadcasted on analog channel 44.
The Multivision channel stops broadcasting on analog channel 33 and starts broadcasting on analog channel 12, enhancing the Multivision´s service, due to its great acceptance among the population.
- TV transmitter center(Guanabo), located in the municipality of Habana del Este:
It stops transmitting the Educativo channel on analog channel 49.
Educativo 2 channel is no longer broadcasted on analog channel 58 and its now broadcasted on analog channel 49.
TeleRebelde channel stops transmissions on analog channel 52 and starts transmission on analog channel 26.
Multivision channel stops transmissions on channel 17 and starts on analog channel 23.
Digital signal of standard definition (TDT SD) changes from channel 23 to digital channel 17.
The rest of the services keep their regular channels.
- TV transmission center located in San Pedro(Alamar), municipality Habana del Este:
Multivision channel stops transmissions on channel 60 and starts on analog channel 33.
Canal Habana stops transmissions on channel 66 and starts on analog channel 21.
The rest of the services keep their regular channels.
- TV transmitting center (Balcón de Lawton), municipality of Diez de Octubre:
Multivision channel stops transmissions on channel 56. The facility transmitting center of this area will get the Multivision channel transmissions from the transmitting center of Televilla (La Lisa) and the Habana Libre transmitting center through analog channels 15 and 12 respectively.
Canal Habana stops transmissions on channel 62 and starts on analog channel 42.
The rest of the services keep their regular channels.
These changes will gradually be made and minimizing off-air time in order to affect as little as possible the transmission to the population.

In 2013 Cuba began the deployment of digital television. Then, as part of the first test in the capital, 45 000 houses received decoder devices donated by the Chinese Government. As a result of this test, the Chinese standard of television showed an enormous adaptability in the country.
