The celebrations for the 502 anniversary of the founding of the Villa de San Cristóbal de La Habana began today in this capital, with a varied program of artistic activities and the reopening of cultural spaces.

Until November 16 (birthday date) the celebration will take place in the Wonder City, with presentations in parks, squares, communities and the first days of the Biennial of Plastic Arts, scheduled for November 12 and April 2022.

According to the governor of the city Reinaldo García Zapata, the agenda also proposes a series of actions aimed at children with the presence of creators from the Hermanos Saíz Association, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and art instructors.

In a press conference, García Zapata highlighted the permanence of the space Have fun on the boardwalk, which emerged on October 23, while announcing the return of the traditional tour around the ceiba, in El Templete, the founding site of the old town.

Another attraction of the festivities will be the lighting of the lights on Galiano Street, in the municipality of Centro Habana, installed two years ago on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the city and which represent the constellations of the Milky Way.

The official program will conclude at the Karl Marx Theater on November 16, with the usual artistic gala, which will take place under the health protocols implemented to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
