
To advance in the transformations of the Moro-Portocarrero community of the municipality of Arroyo Naranjo
Luis Antonio Tórres Iríbar, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba criticized that there has not been the progress that should have been made and oriented to work with the same efficiency and zeal demonstrated in the transformation of the community of La Güinera.
For his part, the Governor of Havana, Reinaldo García Zapata indicated to the cadres of the territory and the Ministry of Construction to prioritize the solution of the main problems of the neighborhood, among which are the water supply, the roads in bad conditions and the deterioration of the houses, the latter with the joint effort of the residents of the area.
García Zapata also oriented to carry out a real social survey to make an exact x-ray of the needs and vulnerabilities of the inhabitants of this territory.
On this subject, the municipal mayor, Kirenia Pomares Aldama, said that an economic assistance is being provided to 27 families, 13 of them are mothers with three children, who are being provided with beds, and later with cradles for their babies.
Likewise, 50 pairs of shoes were purchased for women and children, which will be delivered in the following days.
Job offers have been made to 34 unemployed citizens and a group of young people have been incorporated into courses offered by the Ministry of Construction.
In the Health sector, the repair of five medical offices and a pharmacy was completed.
Similar actions are being carried out in four warehouses, where the basic basket is being administrated, a butcher´s shop and a canteen for the Family Assistance System, as well as in a liquefied gas sales point.
The bread commercialization will be extended with the addition of four bakeries to this warehouses, which will be added to the two existing ones.
Commerce and gastronomy will be also benefited from a multi-service complex that will considerably expand the options of groceries, household items and offers that are currently lacking.
The work plan includes the restoration of several parks, prioritizing the children´s playgrounds.
As for the Community Services, the evacuation and cleaning of the four critical sites with repeated accumulation of garbage was reported, with three others still pending.
The delegate of the district 71, Magalys Álvarez Calderón, referred to the existence of littering in the surrounding of some parks and other places on public roads, which have been a repeated complaint of the inhabitants.
Another deficiency she pointed out was the work done by the Organización Basica Eléctrica, which did not have the required quality, for which reason several areas remain without public lighting.
On the subject of the roads, the Minister of Construction, Ricardo Carbajo, announced that the streets and sidewalks will soon be repaired and the hydraulic networks rehabilitated.
García Zapata indicated to the CAM cadres to daily check the transformations and to dialogue with residents in the streets to learn about their dissatisfactions and suggestions, ¨because this is how the popular Power should work¨.
Torres Iríbar insisted on this line of work and demanded that the director of Arroyo Naranjo carefully read the ideas in this subject expressed by the President Diaz-Canel in his last speeches.
Deterioration of roads and dumping of sewage water: chronic problems.
Precisely that was the spirit that reigned in the exchange of the top leaders of the capital with the residents of Moro- Portocarrero, who in an atmosphere of respect and familiarity raised their concerns.
At the end of the tour, the first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Havana expressed that the citizens must feel cared for, listened to, especially if they are living in unfavorable conditions and announced that in a couple of weeks he will return with the Governor in order to check if the deficiencies have been eliminated and progress have been made in the transformation of the neighborhood.
Before leaving, the highest authorities of the city participated in the coterie of the socio-cultural project Los Titiriteros (The Puppeteers).
