Vaccination against seasonal influeza in adults will begin

Vaccination against seasonal influenza for adults begins next Monday, November 1st, informed the National Vaccination Chief, Dr. Lena López Ambron.

The administration of the inmunogen(0.5 mililiters) will take place during the hole month of November in the same vaccination sites used for the application of the anti-Covid 19 drugs.

According to the Health Authorities, among the population to be included in this process are adults over 85 years of age, those suffering from type 1 diabetes mellitus and bronchial asthma, those between 19 and 24 years of age, patients with crhonic renal insufficiency, infantile brain palsy and cystic fibrosis over sisx years of age, as weel as pregnant women in any trimester.

In addittion, the vaccine will be applied in gradparent´s homes, nursing homes , psychopedagogic medical centers, institutionalized chronic psychiatric patients, workers in poultry and swine farms, and those in the health sector working with seriously ill cases.

From December 1st to 31st will take place the recovery stage for those who have not been able to receive the inmunogen on the indicated date.

The specialist also informed that from 12th of this month this process will be developed in the pediatric population between six month and two years of age with a scheme of 0.25 milimeters.

Cuba carries out this campaign with the purpose of preventing  serious complications associated with seasonal influenza of the southern hemisphere, a contagious disease caused by the influenza viruses.

It affects the nose, throat and lungs and can cause episodes ranging from mild to severe, sometimes resulting in death.
