Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, October 23rd, stated that, 1319 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 945 750.

To date, 8182 deaths by coronavirus (15 belong to the day) have been reported, and 5731(115-) active cases of which 5575(97.3%)with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 1419(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 931 780(98.6%) medical or epidemiological discharges. 17 440 patients remain in hospital admission, 9950 suspicious and 1759 under medical surveillance.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 85 belong to the capital, all of them native. There were reported 2 casualties in the municipalities of Guanabacoa and Plaza de la Revolución. 6489(23.1%) tests samples were tested for a positivity of 1.3%.

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased to a 88.1%(1883), placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Diez de Octubre(11), Boyeros (10), Habana del Este(9),  La Lisa and Arroyo Naranjo(7),Cerro,Playa, Centro Habana,    and Guanabacoa(6),  Marianao(4), Plaza de la Revolución and San Miguel del Padrón and Habana Vieja(3),  Cotorro and Regla (2).

28 128 tests were studied for Covid- 19, 1319 were positive samples, whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 10 360 433 analyzed samples of which 945 750(9.1%) were positive.

Of the confirmed cases,1314(99.7%) people were contacts of confirmed cases accumulating 939 881(98.8%) ,3(0.3%)with source of infection from abroad for a total of 11 835(1.3%) and 2 with unknown source of infection.

There were 1316 native cases this Saturday and 3 imported of which 700 female and 619 male cases.

156 diagnosed patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit, of them 56 critical and 106 seriously ill. 

This Saturday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to 11.6%(153), for a total of 130 332, which represents a 13.8% of the confirmed cases to the date.

Of the 1319 confirmed cases, 292 were under 20 years of age; 330 between 20 and 39; 408 between 40 and 59 and 329, over 60.

The death rate for Covid -19 in Cuba, in October 23rd , 2021 is 0.86% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.03% for the world and the 2.45 % for the Americas region.
