108 of the 1844 new positive identified cases of Covid- 19 are from La Habana

Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, October 17th, stated that, 1844 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 936 809.

To date,8079 deaths by coronavirus (21 belong to the day) have been reported, and 8261 active cases of which 8020 (97.1%)with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 2245(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 920 412(98.2%) medical or epidemiological discharges. 24352 patients remain in hospital admission, 14 375 suspicious and 1716 under medical surveillance.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 108 belong to the capital, all of them native.

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Boyeros and Diez de Octubre (13), Habana del Este (11), Playa, Cerro and Arroyo Naranjo (9), Guanabacoa (8), Centro Habana (7), Plaza de la Revolución, Marianao and La Lisa (6), San Miguel del Padrón and Habana Vieja(5), Cotorro (4) , and Regla (1).

27 329 tests were studied for Covid- 19, 1844 were positive samples, whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 10 200 001 analyzed samples of which 936 809 were positive.

Of the confirmed cases,1843(99.7%) people were contacts of confirmed cases, 1 with source of infection from abroad.

There were 1843 native cases this Saturday and 1 imported of which 987 female and 857 male cases.

241 diagnosed patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit, of them 85 critical and 156 seriously ill. 

This Saturday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to 10.5%(194), for a total of 129 488, which represents a 13.8% of the confirmed cases to the date.

Of the 1844 confirmed cases, 377 were under 20 years of age; 402 between 20 and 39; 553 between 40 and 59 and 512, over 60.

The death rate for Covid -19 in Cuba, in October 17th, 2021 is 0.86% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.04% for the world and the 2.45 % for the Americas region.
