Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, October 15th, stated that, 1946 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 932 768.

To date,8037 deaths by coronavirus (19 belong to the day) have been reported, and 8781 active cases of which 8505(96.8%)with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 3423(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 915 893 medical or epidemiological discharges. 26 252 patients remain in hospital admission, 15 861 suspicious and 1610 under medical surveillance.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 124 belong to the capital, all of them native. We regret 2 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital, in the municipalities of Boyeros and Diez de Octubre.

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased to 187.4% placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Boyeros (14), Diez de Octubre (15), Habana del Este (13), Arroyo Naranjo, Regla and La Lisa (10), Marianao and Guanabacoa (9), Centro Habana, Playa, Plaza de la Revolución and Cerro (8), San Miguel del Padrón (5), Cotorro (3) and Habana Vieja (2).

26 252 tests were studied for Covid- 19, 1946 were positive samples, whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 10 142 313 analyzed samples of which 932 786(9.2%) were positive.

Of the confirmed cases,1936(99.5%) people were contacts of confirmed cases, accumulating 920 965(98.7%), 5 with source of infection from abroad for a total of 11 776(1.3%) and 5(0.3%) with unknown source of infection.

There were 1941 native cases this Friday and 5 were imported of which 1003(51.5%) female and 1943(48.5%) male cases.

276 diagnosed patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit, of them 89 critical and 187 seriously ill. 

This Friday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to 7.2%(141), for a total of 129 176, which represents a 13.8% of the confirmed cases to the date.

Of the 1946 confirmed cases,392 were under 20 years of age; 449 between 20 and 39; 642 between 40 and 59 and 463, over 60.

The death rate for Covid -19 in Cuba, in October 15th, 2021 is 0.86% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.04% for the world and the 2.45 % for the Americas region.
