Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, October 8th, stated that, 3442 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 914 779.

To date,7812 deaths by coronavirus (35 belong to the day) have been reported, and 18077 active cases of which 17 757(98.7%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 4823(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 888 833(97.2%) medical or epidemiological discharges. 44 710 patients remain in hospital admission, 23 796 suspicious and 2837 under medical surveillance.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 203 belong to the capital, of them 200 are native and 3 imported. We regret 2 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital, in the municipalities of Boyeros and Marianao (1 death each).

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased, placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Diez de Octubre (22), Boyeros (21), Habana del Este (16), Playa and Arroyo Naranjo (15), Plaza de la Revolución (14), Marianao, La Lisa and Guanabacoa (13), Habana Vieja (12), San Miguel del Padrón (11), Centro Habana (10), Cotorro (9), Cerro and Regla (8).

39 347 tests were studied for Covid- 19, 3442 were positive samples, whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 9 925 114 analyzed samples of which 884 461 were positive.

Of the confirmed cases,3434 (99.8%) people were contacts of confirmed cases accumulating 903 040(98.8%); 7(0.2%) with source of infection from abroad for a total of 11 707(1.3%) and 1(0.03%) with unknown source of infection.

There were 3435 native cases this Friday and 7 were imported of which 1819 female and 1623   male cases.

320 diagnosed patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit, of them 94 critical and 226 seriously ill. 

This Friday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 4.56%(158), for a total of 127 962.

Of the 3442 confirmed cases, 719 were under 20 years of age; 816 between 20 and 39; 1067 between 40 and 59 and 840, over 60.

The death rate for Covid -19 in Cuba, in October 8th, 2021 is 0.85% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.04% for the world and the 2.45 % for the Americas region.
