Technology Park and Provincial Government of Havana: Alliance for the computerization of society

Making the computerization of Cuban society contribute more and better to the economic development of the country and to the quality of life of the population is one of the main challenges that Cuba faces.

Aware of the importance of multiplying human, economic and financial resources in science, technology and innovation activities, the Government of Havana and the Science and Technology Park (STP) signed a memorandum of understanding.

One of the intentions of the agreement is that the Provincial Government, the Municipal Governments and the subordinate entities exploit to the maximum the potential that the Park offers. During his speech, the director of the STP, Rafael Luis Torralbas Ezpeleta, recalled that, as President Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez said, Havana is responsible for marking the vanguard in the computerization of the country:

«We understand that the Havana Technological Science Park can become a tool for the government of the capital in the computerization of society, based on the opportunities that can be offered there, on the projects that we can create, on the new companies that we help form. The Park has the ability to join forces between companies, universities and research centers and this is positive for both parties ”.

The Governor of Havana, Reinaldo García Zapata, emphasized that the firm becomes a strategic alliance, important not only for the capital, but also for all of Cuba:

«Our president has constantly called us to think all the time about what else we can do, to think as a country also in the process of computerization of society. This alliance will allow the strengthening of the municipality based on the autonomy that is needed and can also contribute to the transformation process that takes place in the neighborhoods ”.

Alliance that will pay tribute to the technological sovereignty of the nation and will bring advances in information technology and communications to the capital's neighborhoods. Tribute also to Fidel Castro, who always insisted on making these advances available for the development of the country and the less favored sectors of Cuba.
