The 28th International Festival of Poetry of Havana is announced

The Centro Iberoamericano de la Decima y el Verso opened the announcement for the event this October 1st for the 28th edition of the International Festival of Poetry of Havana, which will tribute the centenary of the birth of the Cuban poets Carilda Oliver Labra and Jesús Orta Ruiz, known as the Indio Naborí.

During the appointment with the poetry, a Mítin Poético Virtual (Virtual Poetry Meeting) will be carry out from May 4th to 28th, 2022 while offering a privileged space for making a tribute to Tierra baldía ( The Wasteland), from T.S. Eliot and Trilce, from the Peruvian César Vallejo on their 100th anniversary.

Likewise, the Encuentro entre Poetas en Defensa de la Humanidad(Encounter of Poets in Defense of Mankind), will focus the debate on topics related to Love as a possibility for human redemption, in an advocated world for the human extinction.
Another analysis points will be the Covid-19 pandemic global effect, War, Environmental Predation, the human resources’ lapidary greed. 

Authors invited to the Festival should send their videos first, which will be received up to May 21st 2020 through the website festivaldepoesiadelahabana.com .

In this 28th edition contestants could be online connected in real time during the sessions, which include poetry reading, reflexive forums through the Cubapoesía Itinerante, Verso Amigo and Ismaelillo projects.

For this next edition, the Organizing Committee gathered excellent voices of the poetry literary genre in Cuba, among them, Alex Pausides, Virgilio López and Roberto Méndez, presided by the honorific National Award of Literature, Nancy Morejón.

The event sums up the efforts of the Centro Cultural CubaPoesía, the Asociación de Escritores de la UNEAC, the Cuban Institute of the Book, the Ministry of Culture, and the Casa del Alba Cultural.
